End of year message from Cefic-LRI

At Cefic-LRI, next year holds special significance as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of our commitment to chemical safety.

What did 2023 bring us?

Reflecting on the past year, highlights include the introduction of a new Cefic-LRI Manager, Dr Katherine Santizo, and the successful completion of diverse projects exploring the different facets of chemical safety.

We’ve been supporting research for new approaches to ensuring chemical safety, particularly in addressing a range of human health concerns (e.g. developmental, nervous system, thyroid toxicity, fertility and liver). Additionally, our efforts have extended to exploring new methods for assessing persistent and mobile chemicals, as well as the effects of microplastics on aquatic life.

We were delighted to witness progress in the LRI funded HYBIT project, exploring alternative methods for assessing chemical impact with reduced fish use on bioaccumulation and bioconcentration without using fish, aligning with global testing guidelines.

Earlier this year, our Microplastic projects gained recognition at the MARII Workshop in Seattle, underscoring our commitment to impactful research.

To look forward to 2024:

Stay tuned for updates on our ongoing projects, and for new grant opportunities for chemical risk assessment.

We eagerly anticipate continued collaboration and engagement with you in the coming year.
